Chogan Strait is a strait near the city of Bishapour in Kazerun, Fars Province, west south of Iran. Tang-e Chogan is a valuable heritage from the Sassanid era, near the ancient city of Bishabour. There are six prominent lithographs of Sassanid kings similar to the carvings of Naqshe Rostam, Naqshe Rajab and Taq Bostan. The magnificent 6-meter statue of the second Sassanid king, Shapur I, inside a cave, is so unique in the world.

Of course, the roles of Tange Chogan are wider and larger than other roles of the Sassanid era. Three of these reliefs are more than 30 square meters wide and each of them contains the role of 30 people. One of the first and largest of them is the victory of Shapur I over the Roman Empire. The sculpture also showing the image of Philip kneeling and begging Shapur I. Behind Shapur I are soldiers and military officers, and in front of them are Roman rulers giving gifts. In general, there are 11 figures in the reliefs and carvings of Tang-e Chogan, each of which is unique in its kind.

The second role narrates the victory of Bahram II against Arabs. And the third role illustrates the ceremony of receiving the royal ring of Bahram I from Ahuramazda. The fourth role depicts the victory of Bahram II over the rebels. On the right side of  Tange Chogan is the fifth role, a role with the content of Shapur I’ victory over the Romans. The last role depict the ceremony that Shapur I the receives ring from Ahuramazda and his victory against the Romans. Among this exquisite collection, the fifth role seems to be the most safe from injuries than the rest.
