Zaribar Freshwater Lake

Water Supply of Zarivar Wetland
Zarivar Lake is one of the few freshwater wetlands in Iran that no permanent river has a role in its water supply. It is fed mainly through several springs in the western part and the bottom of the wetland. In general, water supply sources of Zarivar wetland consist of three main sources:
1. Atmospheric precipitation that provides about 18 million cubic meters of wetland water annually in the form of rain and snow.
2. Wet floor springs of Zarivbar bed related to underground aquifers, supplied 12 million cubic meters water of the wetland annually.
3. Inlet surface water with a figure of about 28 million cubic meters is the source of water supply of Zarivar Lake. After rain or snow, it flows into the western, eastern slopes and watershed of the wetland through current waterways.
